A poem in honour & remembrance of Ali Chapple "Life and all that" The greatest gift you've each received...? ...The stroke of luck to be conceived! To have a shot at being you! (Who knows what wondrous things you'll do?) To breathe and feel and think and seeto smell and touch - to simply be! To live and love and laugh and cry To lounge beneath a bright blue sky! To hear the wind blow through the trees To swim in glittering azure seas To feel the warmth beside a fire To kiss your precious heart's desire! (By now you've probably got the gist - Be thankful simply to exist!) Of course, life keeps you on your toes What comes tomorrow? No-one knows! The truth: it isn't all plain sailing; There's sickness, heartache, hurt and failing. Good times, bad times, ups and downs, Joyful smiles and mournful frowns. But all-in-all. One things GREAT! You – YES YOU - got to participate! And see such weird and wondrous things: Children, lobsters, wedding rings! Roller coasters. Shooting stars.Candyfloss. The planet Mars! So strange - one might just pause in thought, (as any curious person ought) To wonder what this whole things for?The funniest thing? No one's quite sure! Until some boffin works it out...Then dance and dream and scream and shout! Then Carpe Deum - seize the day! Wring the juice out – have your say! (Whilst treading softly as you go To leave no debris in your flow) But aim instead to shine so bright you fill your nearest with delight! In short: be good and fair and kind -Then when you're gone you'll leave behind A flock of friends...and family too! Who's lives are richer – thanks to you! They'll carry you beyond your years By passing on your bright ideas! And as your grand kids go to school. They might just say: "Granny. She was pretty cool".
